Author Guidelines

The Journal of Rangeland Applications requires that authors first submit an Intent to Submit form (found here). This notice of intent will be reviewed by editors to ensure the proposed topic will be relevant to the JRA audience and that it fits within the types of articles accepted by the JRA.

If the topic is viewed as relevant and potentially valuable to the JRA, the author will receive a notice of acceptance, and a username and password that will allow submission of the full manuscript when it is ready for submission.

Full format and style guidelines are found here.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The proposed submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  2. The proposed manuscript will be a synthesis of published scholarly work and not a presentation of opinion.
  3. The manuscript to be developed will be a summary of published research and not a presentation of experimental research findings.
  4. The text will adhere to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  5. The authors understand that any article published in the Journal of Rangeland Applications will be open-access and page charges will apply to cover costs of reviewing, editing and online publishing.
  6. Acceptance of an Intent to Submit, or of any actual submitted manuscript, does not constitute acceptance for publication in the JRA. The submitted manuscript will be peer-reviewed following the guidelines in Ensuring a Blind Review, and only after review will the the manuscript be accepted or rejected for publication.
